The CWRF’s 2024 Rewind
The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for the Children’s Welfare and Research Foundation (CWRF) as it celebrated 40 years of dedication to improving children’s lives. In honor of this achievement, the CWRF remained committed to its mission of supporting sick and disadvantaged children through a series of impactful fundraisers. These efforts not only provided crucial aid but also reinforced the foundation’s ongoing pledge to create a brighter future for those in need.

40th Anniversary Golf Day
On May 17, 2024, the Children’s Welfare and Research Foundation hosted its 40th Anniversary Golf Day, bringing together 25 teams for a memorable round of golf in support of its charitable partners. The event was a tremendous success, raising over £110,000 with 100% of donations going to our charitable partners.
Cycling for a Great Cause
This year, CWRF trustees Kevin Moran and David Jones led two remarkable fundraising events, rallying over 40 cyclists to support the foundation’s mission. David kicked off the efforts by completing the challenging Ring of Kerry ride, while Kevin followed in October, with his business, MP Moran, backing the CWRF in the Palace to Palace cycle ride. Together, these events raised an impressive £25,000, furthering the foundation’s impact on sick and disadvantaged children.

Remembering Our Dedicated Trustees
Our 40th anniversary year was also marked by sadness as we mourned the loss of two of our most generous trustees.
Tony McGovern was a highly respected businessman, devoted family man, and selfless benefactor. Since joining the board in 2004, he played a vital role in our foundation’s growth and impact. His unwavering dedication, generous contributions, and tireless work behind the scenes were unparalleled. Tony will be fondly remembered, and his legacy of generosity will continue to inspire us.
John Carey, one of our founding trustees, dedicated 40 years to supporting our mission. A passionate golfer, he was instrumental in shaping our annual Golf Day into the success it is today. Since launching his business empire in London in 1969 alongside his brothers Tom and Pat, his leadership and vision have helped raise over £3,000,000 for children’s charities. His commitment, drive, and generosity leave an enduring legacy that will never be forgotten.
